LOCATION >
CUERNAVACA &
SURROUNDINGS
Cuernavaca, the capital of the state of
Morelos, is located just one hour from Mexico City. It
is known for its friendly hospitality and mild climate
with more than 320 days of sunshine per year. Cuernavaca
is also a safe city, far away from the current violence
in the north, along the US-Mexican border.
Throughout its history, Cuernavaca has hosted countless
famous guests because of its pleasant climate and
relaxing life style. Those who have called Cuernavaca
home include the Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortez and
the 19th century Austrian emperor Maximilian and his
wife Carlota.
Today, the city attracts well-to-do weekend visitors
seeking refuge from the hectic Mexican capital and
retirees from around the world, including members of
European royal families.
In Cuernavaca cultural events and fine cuisine are but a
stone's throw: the Cuauhnáhuac Museum, Diego Rivera
murals, the Palace of Cortez, the 400-year-old cathedral,
the pyramids of Xochicalco, world famous restaurants,
luxury stores and folkloric centers such as the local
crafts market, the main square with its colorful
vendors´ stands, and the narrow, winding streets lined
with street merchants peddling everything imaginable.

You are not required to eat at your teacher’s home.

IMPORTANT
The concept behind the Spanish Dialogues
program is first of all learning Spanish and flavoring
Mexican culture by living with the typical Mexican
family. Therefore, it is important to know that teachers
in Mexico belong to the average middle class, and
Mexican middle class lives can not be compared with the
middle class you probably belong to in your home
country. Don’t expect a big car in the driveway, a big
garden with a pool and a house with a fancy design in
the best neighborhood in town!
However, for a small supplement, we can
also place you in teachers’ houses of a higher quality
offering comfort levels which might be closer to what
you are used to. However, these houses are limited, so
make sure to book in time. If you are really looking for
superior accommodations and service, please visit Anders
Languages.
